Defeat the military coup d’etat!

Construct a democratic civilian government in Sudan!

The Communist Party of Canada condemns the traitorous actions of the Sudanese military which overthrew the civilian government it was a partner in, in a coup d’etat on October 25th.

The hopes of the Sudanese people for a peaceful path to national sovereignty and independence, to peace, progress and social and economic advance via this alliance of civilian and military forces, have been blown apart.

Arrests, killings, and worse of Sudan’s Communists and democrats are the military’s legacy.   They are a force for the continuation of Sudan’s domination and exploitation by the EU and US imperialism.  The Sudanese people must be free to determine their own economic and social path forward.

The Communist Party of Canada expresses its full solidarity with the German Communist Party (DKP) and unreservedly condemns the decision of the Federal Chief Electoral Officer (Bundeswahlleiter) to prevent German Communists from standing in the federal election of September 26 and the possible revoking of political party status of the DKP.

Supposedly motivated by a bureaucratic decision that the DKP was unable to file its financial statements on time, in fact this decision is purely political. The DKP had, as early as May 2020, received an official letter from the authorities according to which the necessary conditions were met for their participation. Receiving a letter asserting the contrary and threatening the withdrawal of political party status at the 11th hour can only be seen as a political provocation.

No To Patents on Vaccines

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a great tragedy for more than a year now. In this period, in many countries, millions of workers have caught the disease, losing their health, their jobs or even their lives. On the other hand, in the same time frame, some companies that have sold the essential needs food, hygienic materials, masks and finally, vaccines, as commodities, have become among the wealthiest in the world. The capitalist class has turned the pandemic into an opportunity for greater exploitation of workers in order to make more profits.

Over the past six months, the right-wing, pro-U.S. imperialist BJP/RSS Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has moved sharply to attack the constitutional underpinnings of India as a secular, democratic state which have been in place ever since its emancipation of British colonial rule in 1947. These dangerous moves are part of a broader agenda in practices the ideas of communalism and Hindu nationalism on both the state and society, at the expense of various minorities, especially the very large Muslim minority which constitutes almost 15% of the entire population of India.
