Continue reading »Over the past six months, the right-wing, pro-U.S. imperialist BJP/RSS Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has moved sharply to attack the constitutional underpinnings of India as a secular, democratic state which have been in place ever since its emancipation of British colonial rule in 1947. These dangerous moves are part of a broader agenda in practices the ideas of communalism and Hindu nationalism on both the state and society, at the expense of various minorities, especially the very large Muslim minority which constitutes almost 15% of the entire population of India.

In the process, the reactionary government of Narendra Modi has fanned the flames of ethnic and religious division, regional conflict, and war involving nuclear armed states.
Continue reading »Le Parti communiste du Canada condamne la violence et les meurtres commis par des éléments de l’armée soudanaise contre des manifestants pacifiques au Soudan, et nous demandons au gouvernement fédéral de prendre des mesures concrètes contre l’Arabie saoudite et les autres partisans du régime militaire du Soudan.
Plus de 100 personnes ont été tuées lors des dernières attaques à Khartoum, qui ont commencé le 3 juin lorsque les Forces de soutien rapide liées au Conseil militaire transitoire soudanais ont brutalement débarrassé les manifestants de la zone autour du quartier général des Forces armées soudanaises. De nombreux autres civils ont été blessés ou violés alors que l’armée cherche à écraser complètement le soulèvement populaire qui avait déjà réussi à évincer l’ancien dictateur de longue date du pays.

The Communist Party of Canada today renewed its call on the Canadian government and Parliament to demand the immediate release of 3,000 political detainees arbitrarily arrested by the Sudanese government, including approximately 200 women and the leaders of opposition parties and civil society organizations for the crime of protesting government policies of austerity, arbitrary arrests, torture and detention.
