Put the Communist Party and Socialism on Your Holiday Gift List!

Dear Comrades and Friends:

The last twelve months have seen countless strikes, protests, and demonstrations, and a hard-fought federal election which resulted in a minority government. The first blasts of winter have arrived, but the political outlook is for more heated political action in the coming year, both on the electoral front, and in the streets.

The Communist Party of Canada was on the ballot in 30 ridings in the recent election – the largest number in many years – including new candidates from Central Nova to Nanaimo-Ladysmith. Our message resonated strongly with working class voters, Indigenous people, students, immigrants, women, tenants, trade unionists, fighters for climate justice, LGBTQ+ activists, anti-war and solidarity movements – with all those who resist the far-right, racist forces which seek to divide and smash the people’s movements.  As a result, we have many new friends, supporters and allies in the on-going struggle for fundamental reforms and social change.

We are also proud that Communists were on the ballot in the Alberta and Manitoba elections during 2019, campaigning at the provincial level to defend the rights and interests of working people.

Our members and clubs will continue to call for a real People’s Agenda in 2020, which could see another federal election if the minority Liberal government is defeated in Parliament. Throughout the year, Communists will be active in daily struggles for Indigenous rights, free post-secondary education, higher minimum wages, a universal Pharmacare system, real rent controls, massive investments in social housing, an end to police violence and racial profiling, full reproductive rights for women.

Elizabeth Rowley, CPC leader, campaigning during the 2019 federal election

We remain deeply involved in resistance against racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, transphobia, and all other forms of bigotry. We continue to oppose capitalist trade deals like the USMCA. We demand serious action on climate change, not endless wars, militarism, and imperialist “regime change” strategies. As a party deeply rooted in the working class, we stand in solidarity with every labour struggle to win better wages and living standards.

But our efforts to build the fight for fundamental social change- for peace, climate justice, and socialism –need your support.

Your donation will generate a generous federal income tax credit of 75% on the first $400 (or less) donated, plus 50% on the next $350, and 33% on the remainder, up to a total rebate of $650.

Thank you for your generous and on-going support. We couldn’t do it without you!

Yours in the Struggle,

Elizabeth Rowley, Leader
