Communist Party of Canada condemns Israel’s bombing of Iran

The Communist Party of Canada vehemently condemns Israel’s illegal and reckless bombing of Iran. This “preemptive” aggression flagrantly violates international law and is a murderous crime, risking catastrophic escalation. The attack rests on false pretexts: even U.S. intelligence confirms Iran has no active nuclear weapons program. Israel’s actions constitute imperialist-backed aggression, not self-defence.

This bombing underscores Israel’s role as the primary military proxy for U.S. imperialism in the region. Washington’s clear foreknowledge and encouragement of the attack are evident. It is no coincidence that this attack took place just days before the sixth round of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, and that Trump immediately urged Iran to sign a deal “before it’s too late.” This clearly demonstrates that these bombings are aimed at weakening Iran before the negotiations and forcing it to sign a deal dictated by the interests of US imperialism. This incident fuels a dangerous drive towards wider war. Canada’s complicity in this war drive is shown by its rapidly escalating military spending.

Now is the critical moment for all pro-peace and democratic forces in Canada and globally to demand that the Canadian government immediately condemn this attack and take strong action against Israel—including supporting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement and ending all diplomatic and economic ties—and to join the call for an immediate end to Israeli aggression, a halt to further escalation, the rejection of Canada’s militarization, and resistance to the march to world war.
