International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
On this International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Communist Party of Canada stands in full solidarity with the resistance and steadfastness of the Palestinian people. This day serves as a powerful global reminder of the ongoing genocide and Nakba, while also celebrating the Palestinian struggle for justice, freedom, and self-determination against colonialism and national oppression. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to a free Palestine.
We condemn the recent UN Security Council resolution that endorses the U.S.-Israeli so-called “peace plan.” This plan, imposed rather than negotiated with Palestinians, is a cynical manoeuvre to partition Gaza, perpetuate Israeli control under a new guise, and deny Palestinian sovereignty. By establishing “safe communities” and an international force to secure them, it aims to fragment Palestinian national unity. We note with contempt that this resolution was pushed by the major NATO imperialist powers, while China and Russia abstained. This plan is not a path to peace but a blueprint for continued oppression and ethnic cleansing.
In Canada, we are fighting against our own capitalist class’s complicity in these crimes. While imposing brutal austerity on working people, the Canadian state is embarking on a massive, NATO-driven militarization campaign. Simultaneously, Canada continues to fuel the genocide through a deadly arms trade, with hundreds of shipments of Canadian explosives and F-35 jet components flowing to Israel via the U.S. We demand that the Canadian government support Bill C-233, the “No More Loopholes Act,” to enact a full, two-way arms embargo and cut off all military links with the Israeli state.
The struggle for Palestinian liberation is inextricably linked to the global fight against U.S.-led NATO imperialism. We salute the resistance of the Palestinian people and promise to redouble our efforts to build solidarity within Canada until victory is won.
