The Communist Party of Canada joins with labour organizations across the country in expressing solidarity with the Canadian Union of Labour Representatives (IAMAW 3111), whose members working at the Canadian Labour Congress have taken strike action.

The workers are fighting against the employer’s desire to weaken the Anti-Harassment Policy, by diminishing the ability for complainants and survivors to determine whether complaints are referred to an outside third party for investigation. Also at stake is the dispute over the CLC’s proposal to change the terms of the defined benefit pension plan.

The Communist Party stands with all workers who are fighting concessions and erosions to their collective agreements and working conditions. The CLC leadership needs to get back to the bargaining table and negotiate in good faith to provide a fair deal for CULR.
